About NawiriGroup

Our group is foremost known as a leading safari travel group, offering great personalised nature based travel experiences across the continent. Yet, our group is so much more than just a travel company. We are a platform that connects local communities, expert partners, private sector operators and travellers with one goal: driving positive impact at scale within some of Africa’s most iconic wilderness areas. Our goal is to ensure that these natural ecosystems, the last remaining natural ecosystems in the world with such high densities of large mammals, are successfully protected for future generations and that the local communities in these areas thrive.

Today, through the Group’s various subsidiaries across multiple countries, we employ over 1,300 people in sub-Saharan Africa – all dedicated to delivering immersive experiences while working towards our goal of delivering impact at scale. We operate distinct brands in their individual markets, supported by a common core of shared enabling functions - all with a shared purpose. Integral to all of this is the work of Nawiri Foundation, which sits at the nexus of impact partners, our commercial activities and fundraising from individual and institutional donors.

Our shared purpose is encapsulated in our name - ‘Nawiri’ is Kiswahili for ‘to flourish/thrive’, reflecting our vision of creating a future where vital ecosystems and local communities thrive together.

Our Ecosystem Focus

Our travellers explore many of East and Southern Africa’s great landscapes, providing positive benefits through ecotourism. Our impact work currently focuses on key ecosystems that are critical for the health of our planet. We send travellers to all of these wilderness areas and have a presence through our camps and lodges in four* of them.
