Sayari Camp Wins Best Tented Camp

We are pleased to share that Asilia’s Sayari Camp has been named Best Tented Camp at the 2nd Serengeti Awards for Excellence in Conservation & Tourism, hosted by Tanzania’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism. The ceremony took place on 31 January 2024 and was attended by the Prime Minister of Tanzania, Dr Mwigulu Nchemba, alongside the Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr Ashatu Kijaji, and other senior government leaders.

The Serengeti Awards were established as a national platform recognising innovation and leadership across Tanzania’s tourism, conservation, and cultural heritage sectors, with a focus on organisations shaping a more responsible approach to tourism.

The Best Tented Camp category recognises luxury tented lodges that deliver strong guest experiences while operating responsibly. Winners are selected through a combination of public voting and expert panel assessment. Sayari Camp was recognised for the consistency of its guest experience, its sustainable operational approach, the use of renewable energy and waste reduction practices, and its commitment to staff welfare and development.

For Asilia, this recognition reflects years of working closely with the Serengeti landscape and the people who know it best. For Nawiri, it speaks to our belief that travel can create meaningful connections, support local livelihoods, and contribute positively to the places that host it. Sayari Camp underscores how safaris grounded in place and partnership, can play a practical role in supporting both ecosystems and people thrive together.
